The cakes are delicious their pricing is a bit high but I remind myself it's because of the quality of them. However this last time my tres leches was a bit dry around the edges thankfully it's soaked more towards the middle so it wasn't a big deal at all. Their penmanship is beautiful and they place these big fresh Strawberrys on top. Delicious!
One of the things I hate is desserts that are too rich or overly sweet. Extra sugar for no reason. This place has the perfect balance of sweet combined with natural flavor. I feel like the baker takes the bread as seriously as the rest of the pastries. Give Melchor Bakery a go!!!
Was in the mood for a Mexican delicacy, it was a toss up between tamales or pan dulce. Stoped into this bakery which is down the street from my work, went with the tamales. Ordered a dozen to spread the joy with my co- workers. Decided on half queso con rajas and half pollo con salsa verde. The clerk was nice and extended a discount because I purchased a dozen $30). Got to work, joyfully passed out tamales and finally I sat down to enjoy. I unwrapped a steamy hefty sized tamale; I could feel my smile from cheek to cheek. Went in for the first cut, and the masa crumbles apart! The masa to filling ratio was a sad 80/20, but I'm an optimist, and give the benefit of the doubt. I take in the first bite and disappointment instantly floods my whole soul. Flavorless to say the least from the masa to the filling. To add insult to injury, it was the driest mouthful of masa I've ever had. I didn't think it possible to mess up queso con rajas but somehow, I was proved wrong. Cheese didn't melt, stayed intact was a rubber like consistency and had ZERO flavor. The rajas were just that, sliced jalapeños with nothing else. No tomato, onion or ANY type of seasoning. At the very least some salt would have helped. The worst part is my co-workers shared the same sentiment, to the trash they all went. Maybe I should have gone with the pan dulce, or maybe not...
Walked in asked to see a menu, was ignored. I left. Horrible first interaction, I wouldn't advise anyone to go there. Looked dirty and grimey
