I did not care for the deep fried cod as it was too greasy. I blotted off the grease and removed the skin. The cod itself was excellent. I enjoyed a glass of Alaskan Amber beer with dinner. Service was a little slow as they did not seem to have enough wait staff.
Don’t plan on eating here unless you have at least 3 hours to spare before boarding. Service is extremely slow and have no care for the cistomers
I’ve eaten at several airport versions of regular restaurants and while it’s been years since I visited the downtown Humpy’s location my recollection is that they served a decent pub style burger. In most cases, airport versions are usually close if not exact replications of their outside siblings. The burger I got here, however, was a joke. A preformed pressed rubbery flavorless steamed ham impersonating burger with anemic undercooked food service fries but the cafeteria clincher came in the form of the plastic utensils and the packetized mayo. It will, as a sage wiseman once said, make a turd but that’s about the best this meal will accomplish. Glad I didn’t opt for a more expensive seafood selection.
We chose this place for drinks and were not disappointed. While we did not order food the menu had a nice variety of meals. Be expected to pay though given its quality and location.
With the prospect of a long red-eye flight from Anchorage to Chicago ahead, we walked around the periphery of the terminal looking for somewhere to get a filling meal before boarding our plane. Humpy’s was crowded, looked appealing, and we decided to give it a try. We were glad we did. Though the food we ordered — a salmon burger for my wife and a halibut one for me — was hardly the best seafood we have ever eaten, both meals were excellent. The fish in each was well cooked and tasty, the fries were good, and the spicy homemade tartar sauce a wonderful addition to the meal. Our waitress was very personal and attentive even to the point of offering to mail some postcards for us after her shift was done. No food at any restaurant in Alaska is cheap when compared to the Lower 48, but Humpy’s prices were comparable to other meals that we had during our stay in the state and well-worth what we paid for them. We would certainly stop there again.
