It is very lovely place in terms of the design. Service was fine and very fast. Food is the matter of taste...a good quality. Entrees were better than in other places I have been to.
We've been here a couple of times since Haru reopened in its new location, as reHaru. First time was fine, a few months ago, very good Japanese food as before with no issues and as expected. We went again for lunch a few days ago, and there was a real problem with service and/or the kitchen. My husband ordered the Tempura bowl, and they brought him a big bowl of salad, which he didn't order so they took back. Then they tried to give him a bento box, again something he didn't order. The waitress wandered around trying to find who it was supposed to go to and then took that one back to the kitchen too. The same thing was happening in the booth next to us, with dishes coming to the table and being sent back as wrong. Finally the manager (I think, not dressed as wait staff) came out to get things straightened out at the next table, and my husband finally got his order. By that time of course we had all eaten and were simply waiting for his meal. Not sure if it was kitchen or wait staff that was messing up the orders. Consequently, we suggest that if you want to go to reHaru, consider waiting until next month if you want to go for lunch and see if they have their system straightened out, or try dinner there. Staff may have their act together during that service period. Overall, Japanese cuisine is very good there; it's the other problems that reduce reHaru's rating from 4 to 3.
I love this restaurant. It is one of my favorites to go to when I am in Anchorage. Great service, the best food.
The Sushi is always cold, they have the best spicy mayo in town, just fresh fish all the way around, service great! 4
