Le Relais d'Alsace Angouleme

Our intention was to eat at the Bistro St Andre but foolishly we didn't make a reservation and ended up having lunch here.Wish we had read the reviews before hand as we would have probably found somewhere else.Disappointing - what more can I say? As is quite often the case great location but very average food.Salads to start which were OK - then moules frites - which I can only describe as being past their best.Disappointing end to a great day.

We have been eating here when we visit Angouleme for 3 years. This summer we ordered for for 4 people and one meal turned up. The waitress then went to find out where the other meals were and didn't return to us leaving us with the one meal. I sent the meal back and we then waited over half an hour for all 4 meals to appear. The food was awful. I complained to the manager who didn't seem to care.We will not be returning

Popped in for a lunch on Sunday for something different. My husband enjoyed his sausage and sauerkraut and my salad was good. We'd go again. Quick service - makes a change from the usual French restaurants.

We ate here twice when visiting, mainly because it is central, and open on Sunday evenings.The Service we experienced was not great , the Manager was grumpy with the staff for some reason. It was made up for by the quality of the food which is actually very nice, and lots of locals eat there.

Had a lovely meal for 9 of us. No complaints from anyone. I was a little surprised to read the negative reviews afterwards actually. There are more atmospheric places to eat but this suited us perfectly, including 5 happy kids.
