The prices were also reasonable. I would definitely return to this restaurant for a meal when I am in the area again in the future.
We ate here in March 2018 and it was superb. Went again this trip and it was dreadful. We even saw them get our dinner out of the freezer a ready meal!! We didn’t think it was really for us but it was so quick it truely was. They were unhelpful and didn’t bring the rice till we had eaten and were amazed we didn’t want it!! The food was edible granted but then they hadn’t made it so not surprised. DO NOT EAT HERE Go to RED CHILLI instead.
Really Authentic Indian food. All clientele were Indian when we ate there which alludes to there quality of food. We had chana masala, mix veg curry, garlic naan and rice and we're all very tasty. Indian cricket on the tv added to the authentic feel. Price not expensive but there are cheaper options in the area. Worth a stop by if staying in the area
Wanted to order takeaway and after reading the nice reviews on tripadvisor, decided to order a couple of biryanis for lunch. Placed the order on phone and provided directions to the boy. He was requested to deliver an hour later, but when there was no sign of him, calls were made again and he finally delivered half an hour later than promised. And now about the food. With a name like Apna Punjab, I would expect North Indian food to be their forte. I would expect biryani to be a dish that every Indian restaurant worth its salt would know how to prepare. Not so at all. Their biryani was nothing but slightly long stapled rice tossed with some spices and colouring in a pan along with pieces of pre-boiled chicken, nothing else, It was obvious the chicken was boiled with some turmeric and salt before, and just added into the rice. They probably used this standard technique to prepare every chicken dish ordered at their place and just varied the spices and the cooking time. No marinade, couldn 't see even basic biryani ingredients added, no garnish whatsoever. No salad, onion rings, lime or raita as accompaniment, which is the basic you would expect with biryani at any restaurant. Instead, plain curd packed straight out of a chiller. My worst experience of eating biryani anywhere. Since we live down the street from them, our intention was to try them out with this first and then order takeaway in future as well, but based on this experience, that seems like a remote possibility now.
We initially overlooked this restaurant due to its lack of fancy ambiance, but its close proximity to our hotel convinced us to give it a try. We ended up having dinner here every day during our stay. The food was fantastic and the prices were very reasonable. There's nothing better than enjoying a delicious meal after a long day in the sun.
