Very welcoming and lovely chef and host. While the setting is not particularly lavish and away from the main drag the food was fantastic. Happy to be flexible and allowed us to try a smaller portion of frogs legs, which were surprisingly very nice!Couldn't fault Le Congres and encourage you to try it, particularly if you want a break from the overpriced restaurants bunched together.
Very good food, food was prepared while we were waiting, i.e. it was fresh. Relaxed atmosphere, a genuine family-operated restaurant.
We had some lovely food in Juan Les Pins, Nice and Avignon while there this weekend past but felt compelled to warn about this place. We rocked up after the wife decided she didn't see anything on the Paradis menu she wanted. What a mistake.Seems to be a couple running the joint and the lady is poilte enough. Prices seem reasonable on the face of it.Ordered a Royal plate which was nice enough although expected a bit more for a sharing plate. Then the mains...a crispy duck that was just sliced duck and garnish, nothing crispy about it.spicy calamari which were well cooked but no spice just a bland tomato saucechicken noodles which again were very blandand rice. No wait, the rice never arrived and when I mentioned it somehow I was to blame for not remembering to ask where it was.In addition to this there was an illegal Europa League computer feed in the corner of the room showing Monaco v Spurs, and the owners children were in the restaurant, one of whom had a chesty cough, and to cap this off the local staggerring drunk came in and was given a drink at the bar.I would not eat here. Ever.
This Vietnamese restaurant (which also does takeaway) is fabulous. It's fairly basic (like you are in downtown Hanoi) but the owners are lovely, the food better than any Asian restaurant I know in S France or London. It's not as swish as Pousse-Pousse (or a Nobu) but the food is amazing and I prefer it! Best spring rolls and dim sum ever. Great sushi. Unbelievable Vietnamese prawns. I can't believe this restaurant in a great spot opposite the Congrès is not higher in the league tables. Great place for casual spicy dinner or they can do good takeaway. Particularly if you are hitting the JLP nightlife for a drink after. Go there and try the food and meet the lovely owners.
