*Please note that I ate in this restaurant 6 months ago. You could have a new cook. Fontana is everywhere on Arlington east side, north side, and who knows where else. Now they're on South Cooper. Nicely decorated and the staff is nice. In fact, I gave a star to each of these things. On a Saturday evening in December we had to start a martini, which was good. The appetizer of lobster ravioli was at best mediocre. Bread wasn't acceptable was it Frozen bread???????? Certainly not. Our main course was the seafood combo $48), which we split. I didn't feel bad about the split, as we drinks, an appetizer and the duck were $48. I don't know what happened, but it was absolutely tasteless. I said my husband should stop eating and we'd take it home and I'd make a decent sauce for it. I was so mad. The seafood was MOSTLY CALAMARI. I should have given myself a hint that no one was there for dinner. I would like to hear if someone had the pasta; Maybe it's better, but I don't spend more of my money there.
Wanted to give it a try in order to support local neighborhood restaurants. Had ordered their sea bass, salmon and spaghetti for dinner. The fish were not fresh and very dry. Their fish were likely packaged frozen products. The prices were ridiculously high and did not match the food quality! The spaghetti is lesser quality than quick cheeper home made. I don't plan on coming back to this place.
Great Italian cuisine and wonderful atmosphere. One of the few more places you can actually have a conversation. White table cloths and great service.
Eating was okay, not great- not sure if it was because we came to lunch and it wasn't busy! I definitely don't think the food is worth the price tag, which is disappointing. I really love a good chicken marsala, but it didn't like it here. The Marsala sauce was more a strange gravy than a sauce. I hate to say it, but Olive Garden?s Chicken Marsala blows this from the water.... it also had a side of extremely over boiled squash and a small part of spaghetti with marana sauce that was strange. I really wish they had put the noodles under the Marsala and left the Marinara sauce completely. Also the ducks come with a salad, so I ordered a Caesar salad, which they gave me an extra $6.50 for. I was kind of shocked because the waiter did not mention that the Caesar salad was not included or that it was extra. Don't get me wrong, not everything was bad. The chicken piccata was pretty good and the filled mushrooms were also delicious. I don't think I'm returning because the costs were quite expensive and I don't think the quality of the food is up to the price.
