Came here to see a play and was amazed at how they transformed a relatively nondescript ballroom into a really impressive set; a kitchen, complete with a sink that had actual running water. Nice! The ballroom where the production was held was a bit hard to find, as the signage in the building was not as clear as it could be. Things got especially tricky when it came to determining which elevators to take (Noooo, I did not mistakenly find myself on the staff elevator. Why do you ask? . Despite getting turned around a few times however, we made it to our seats in time. At the end of the show, there was a reception on the top floor. A wedding reception was just wrapping up in the ballroom on that floor, so our reception was located in the hallway areas outside of it. I think we actually got the better end of the deal, because the views of the city were simply stunning. The servers were wonderful and I was really pleased with how often they came around with trays of all kinds of delicious food; Grilled shrimp, chicken skewers, some kind of potato croquette. And they were very thorough in making sure that they got around to everybody, but without being pesky, aggressive or annoying. The bartender did a great job of managing the line, so the wait for a cocktail was never too long... which was especially good because he was the only one working the bar. The dessert table was the stuff that dreams are made of. There was a broad variety of little tartlets and cakes; varying fruit flavors and of course, good ol chocolate! I definitely set myself back a pound or two. Worth it!
The hotel does have the corporate image, and it does have a great location -close to the bridge towards the city and close to Arlington 's ' busy area. The restaurant and services are good, and the staff is very nice. Rooms were clean and had a great bed. There were a few issues: the toilet was running when I checked in and I had to call for maintenance to fix it. I was hoping they 'd move me to a new room, since I had just gotten there, but they didn 't. The next couple days I was always stressed it was going to break again. The elevators are extremely slow and not very smart . I 'd need to go downstairs but i 'd take me two stories up before heading down. Stops in every floor, and there are people that wait for so long that they end up using the service elevators... Other than that, the restaurant (Conexion) is good and the gift shop has also good things BUT if they are closed, you can 't buy water there anymore and you have to order it to the room.
I 've stayed at this Marriott several times because I 'm a Marriott guy (Titanium Level) but place gets a little worse each time. My single king bed room was small, and the decor is very dated and run-down looking. The hallways are also drab and showing lotsa wear. The air conditioner in my room was set at 60*, but the room never got cooler than the high 70s. They 've ditched their old room service in favor of something they call Fresh Bites , similar to what the JW Marriott downtown did. Short version: instead of a dinner on a plate, with a nice tray and cutlery, I got a paper bag with good-sounding food wrapped in a cheap plastic container. Save your money and use Grub Hub or Uber Eats instead of using their room service . I might come back, but only if the location is REALLY convenient to where I need to be for business.
The 3 star rating for the Key Bridge Marriott is broken down like this: +100000000 stars for the staff 999999997 stars for the hotel owners who clearly don't give a shit about investing in the property From the check in staff at the front desk, to the housekeepers, to the events servers without exception, they were extremely friendly, helpful, and exactly the kind of people you want to be working at the hotel. 100% they should all get raises. Unfortunately, all of these really wonderful people work at a hotel where the owner has clearly not spent a penny in years. For a Marriott, the condition is brutal. Chipped edges on tables, dirty carpets (not from poor housekeeping, but because it is so old), closet doors which don't close properly because the slider track is so worn... I could keep going, but you get the idea. I would never return for a stay here because the quality of the property is so subpar, and there are so many hotel options nearby.
