Food: The quality of the food here is poor, though it tastes okay. It's a mix of a college dining hall and reheated Costco frozen meals. It's not terrible, but it's far from great. Most people don't visit restaurants for reheated food. Service: Terrible. Our waitress seemed indifferent and somewhat rude. For instance, because the food took so long to arrive, we ended up ordering more out of hunger. Trying to get our waitress's attention was a challenge; it felt like she was intentionally ignoring us. When she finally came to our table, her attitude was a bit rude, and it seemed like she was judging us for ordering more. Additionally, as a non-drinker, I checked online to ensure that the brunch would offer a non-alcoholic option. To my surprise, the restaurant didn't provide one, even though their website claimed otherwise. It was confusing because the bill had separate charges for food and alcohol brunch, but the menu was unclear. Final Thoughts: In today's economy, this place is not worth the money. The food quality is subpar, the service is terrible, and they need to clarify whether they offer a non-alcoholic brunch menu, as stated on their website. The DJ was amazing though. Recommend the Ambar Experience, a kind of all you can eat for a set price. The food items are tapas size so you will want to order a good number to fill up. This is a great way to have a variety of Balkan cuisine, which was a first for me. We ordered the two Flatbread, the mushroom and the sudzuk (think pepperoni). The mushroom Flatbread was really delicious and NY party enjoyed that over the meat Flatbread. The short rib goulash and the chicken stroganoff were both very hearty and delicious. The chicken skewers were so good that we ordered another one. The drunken mussels tasted slightly of alcohol, like its title, and was tasty. The asparagus and the Brussel sprouts were so so delicious. Skip the cheese pie lol. It was ok. The shrimp in the corn puree was so good. The fried chicken was ok to me. Seemed like a chicken katsu on top of yogurt and chopped veggies. The mushroom gnocchi was good; people who like truffles would like it a lot. And I think that was everything! Definitely would recommend this restaurant. Will be my go to when trying to impress friends/family.
This is my go to place, great food and service. While the DC locations have unlimited drinks for a price, this location makes up for not having that option with the ambiance and service
I took my wife here yesterday for her birthday, our first visit. With a reservation, we were promptly seated. We enjoyed the restaurant week lunch with various tapas-style dishes. Food and ambiance were good, making us consider returning. However, when settling the bill using my inKind app, I noticed an $11 charge for a mojito instead of the menu-advertised $6. I brought it up with the waiter, who canceled the initial transaction and asked for payment again. Despite explaining my inKind offer, he assured me I'd be refunded. I suggested he reimburse me the $6 overcharge in cash to avoid another transaction and me losing on my offer, but he insisted on the refund process. Unfortunately, I later realized I lost my $25 off $50 inKind offer due to this error, leaving me out of pocket for $25. While we enjoyed the food and ambiance, this experience left a negative impression.
