Hanshin Pocha - Arlington Heights

When visiting an older Korean restaurant or pub in Chicago (not sure why it seems specific to this city, but it does), you should brace yourself for less-than-stellar service. The older women who work there often have a bit of an attitude. That said, the woman here isn't as rude as those at some other Korean places I've been to; she still makes you feel a bit unwelcome and bothersome, but I've had worse experiences. If you can overlook the service, the food is fantastic. The soju is served ice-cold—almost like a slushy, which I absolutely love. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't consider coming back. If you’re looking for better service along with good food and drinks in a Korean pub setting, I suggest trying New Village Pub. I wouldn't recommend Hansin to non-Koreans. New Village Pub is the way to go if you’re not Korean.

I visited this restaurant for the first time and it certainly won't be my last visit. The food was delicious, and the service exceeded my expectations. The side dishes were equally impressive. I can't wait to return and explore more of the menu!

We enjoyed the sliced brisket, which we cooked right at our table. The food was delicious, portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. They also offered a selection of alcoholic beverages. The service was friendly, and the restaurant was clean. K-pop music videos were playing on the TVs, adding to the lively atmosphere.

I really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. It's funny that we both decided to order the rice with egg and kimchi rice. Both the kimchi fried rice and the kimchi pancake were fantastic. The pancake was perfectly soft, crispy, tangy, and spicy, while the rice had a nice smoky flavor. The Sapporo beer was also poured to perfection. I can't wait to come back to try more dishes and sample more of the fish cake!

Wow, this place was amazing! We were fortunate to get a table even without a reservation. It's been ages since I've had kimchi this delicious. I can't wait to return! Food: 5/5
