Don't look for the name Piccolo any more as this restaurant is now called Simmens Roesti. Enter through the Gallery or up the winding stairs outside. The atmosphere is great, the service friendly and the food magnificent. Wine can be ordered by the glass or bottle. We had not eaten rōsti before pancake of grated potato with your choice of toppings. We chose the Farmers Rösti with the cheese bacon and fried egg, served with apple sauce. It was delicious and very filling. Do give this place a visit.
Nice atmosphere inside, and good food (we had carrot soup and Thai soup, with roestis), although it may seem a bit peculiar to have Asian dishes and roestis on the same menu... We could have given a better rating but the service was just appalling: the 3 waitresses were unfriendly and could not care less about their customers, the service was rough and they always seemed in a hurry so you don 't feel welcome. The worst is that the price are not the same on the English menu and the Swiss menu...!!! When we realized the difference and mentioned it to the lady who handed us the bill, she did a gesture with her hand meaning well it is too late now and it is a typo on the menu translation . So we did not insist because we could see that she was clearly annoyed with our remark, and we paid the amount but we lost a few francs. That should not be. Despite the food, we would not recommend this restaurant.
Who does know Rösti ? Who does love Rösti ? Here you can choose from a great variety of different versions ....
If you like rösti then this restaurant is the place to go. They serve the real Suisse rösti. Different combinations. Good service. Good wine. Definately a must go
