El Cerco - Artajona

This is an easy-going restaurant in Artajona, quite close to the road. Excellent choice when visiting the region, specially the medieval site of Artajona. One can get a menu for a very reasonable price and have an excellent typical meal. We enjoyed everything we ordered and we were more than satisfied being the helpings really abundant. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and familiar, frequented by the people of the town.

My wife and I stopped in this little hotel during our Camino walking tour. After a long hard days walk in the searing heat it was wonderful to be greeted by the hotel owner with a friendly smile and a glass of ice cold lemon juice. The hotel is on the edge of the old quarter of Puerta la Reina. The room was good,clean and well appointed with a fine shower. Importantly the hotel was peaceful and our beds were comfortable. We paid 77euro for the room and then 12 euro for two breakfasts. The owner was very helpful in recommending places to visit and restaurants. On the first floor there was a nice spacious lounge for use of guests. Wifi was decent although did cut out occasionally. All in all recommended.

On a visit to this Medieval city we were directed to this restaurant by someone on the street. You enter a small bar and are directed to the comedor to the left. The only have a menu of the day for 12 Euros but it has a substantial number of selections that everyone should be happy. We had three different firsts; two soups and a cuban rice (see photo). All were very good. For second two of us had tenera which was served very thin but the two pieces covered the entire plate and were very flavorable. The other person had bacalo revuelto which he said was wonderful. Wine as a local tinto de Artajona and was good.

Buena experiencia, llegamos buscando un sitio para comer y aunque era tarde nos dieron de comer. Sitio campechano pero con muy buena comida.

Fue un menú cerrado, un día festivo, el restaurante a tope. Comida correcta, relación calidad/precio algo caro. El servicio algo lento.
