The Greenman Inn - Ashbourne

Went there for lunch on friend's recommendation we weren't disappointed. Extensive menu for most tastes. Delicious food. Great setting. Staff friendly efficient. Highly recommended.

Poor grumpy slow service, grubby, basic pub with poorly executed basic menu. Publican had all the excuses under the sun, with no hospitality or humility. He made it feel like it was our fault for going there. Crikey, we should have known they were over stretched and the kitchen couldn't cope and the dunny was blocked and they hadn't bothered to clean the place properly in the last twenty years. Quit while you're ahead and don't go there. Price per person: A$40–60

Had to wait well over an hour and a half for our meal. We weren't the only ones other tables with young children were waiting as well. The senior service member was grumpy due to being too busy for the kitchen to handle. The platter we ordered eventually arrived. The food was ordinary and very mismatched. Wasn't worth the wait. And the portaloo (because the pub was undergoing renos) was filthy and blocked up. All in all, not somewhere we would go again.
