Our family had a delicious dinner tonight at The Old Windmill. Panos and his family run a wonderful restaurant. Exceptional food (cauliflower, swordfish, beet root salad, meatballs) likely the best meal we’ve had anywhere in Greece. Our kids enjoyed playing with Panos’ daughter and his dog. The restaurant is incredibly family friendly. Thank you! Our kids enjoyed Kid-friendliness: Panos and his family have turned the center room of the restaurant into a super kid friendly space with toys and scooters. Fun!
We were very positively surprised when we arrived with our hungry toddlers at 12 p.m. and they even offered us spaghetti Bolognese. But we politely said no and were able to spend the time until 1 p.m. (until the kitchen opens on the very nice playground (wooden climbing frame, with slides, etc. . The children played and we enjoyed the breathtaking view in the hammock next door. We then ate the food inside. The best Lebanese-Greek restaurant on the island. Top!!! And even inside, the kids could play with toys in a play sofa corner. Totally family friendly.
This place was our saving grace during our week long stay on the island. After having an underground experience at Madrakia on the first evening, we visited this place based on the good reviews and were not disappointed, on the contrary, pleasantly surprised. The service was attentive and courteous and took the time to explain individual dishes that we were unfamiliar with. The food was fresh, varied and of the highest quality across the board. Overall, the direction can be described as a really well implemented fusion cuisine from Greece and the Orient. The wines were also very good. We loved this restaurant so much that we spent three whole evenings there enjoying the food and atmosphere. An absolute must-go on Zakynthos.
Outside, a picturesque, fantastic setting with sea views. Dishes prepared with lots of fresh spices are a culinary delight. There is meat and seafood, but vegetarian and vegan dishes are also recommended. Homemade lemonade and wines are also excellent. The unusual music in the winter garden was too loud for my liking. Vegetarian options: Delicious selection Parking: Sufficient free parking spaces directly in front of the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: There is a small playground and play area in the restaurant.
