Bean's Lager - Astoria

Our visits to this restaurant were rather a mixed bag. We ate here two nights in a row as it was a convenient location. The first night, the food was decent and the service was great, so we generally enjoyed our visit there. The second night did not go so well, as the food wasn't as good, the service didn't seem to care much, and one person in our group may have become ill from chicken that wasn't prepared properly. I want to like the place and I think it has a lot of potential to be better, but they need to improve their quality and consistency before I'd recommend going back.

It was a special occasion and we were celebrating that my friend had finished with her last section of chemotherapy, the food was very delicious, the waiters were wonderful and they accommodated to my friend's diet, the happy hours were excellent and we ended up singing and dancing with the band, I recommended this place for any celebration.

It looks like they were short-staffed that night. The hostess was missing, and the person working the bar was also waiting tables. A few times the busboy mistakenly brought up food that wasn't ours. It was clearly disorganized that night.

The server was overwhelmed as he had a large party that had apparently just put in their order. Our order was taken by who I’m guessing is the bus boy. He didn’t speak English very well and couldn’t answer questions about food preparation in regards to food restrictions. Our food took thirty minutes to arrive (soup, salad and a grilled chicken sandwich shouldn’t take that long). No one checked on us after the food arrived.

Had a great time at Actoria! Can’t wait to go back.
