Hong Kong - Astoria

For years, I’ve been searching for a nostalgic restaurant that captures the essence of the 1960s Cantonese cuisine. While many have shifted their focus to Szechuan or Mandarin dishes, those don’t hold the same significance for me. This place offers all the dishes I loved and fondly remember from my childhood, prepared just the way I like them. The fast service was fantastic—I couldn’t have asked for anything more. While nothing on my plate was perfect, and I might have given a four-star rating in the past, the fact that it took so long to find such a gem warrants a five-star review from me.

The restaurant is clean and well-lit, offering friendly, attentive, and efficient service. Upon arrival, I was welcomed with a cup of tea and presented with the menu. I chose from both menus, opting for Chicken Subgum Chow Mein and Fried Shrimp. I decided between the hot and sour soup and the egg flower soup. I appreciated that cold water was provided without needing to ask. The food was delicious and served in generous portions. The vegetables in the Chow Mein were crisp, and the fried shrimp were cooked to perfection, complemented by superb spicy dipping sauce. All of this came for less than $9. During my visit, the staff wore masks, and there was ample space between seated diners. I highly recommend Hong Kong Restaurant on Marine Drive in Astoria, Oregon.

I went to play video poker and ended up staying for lunch, and I'm glad I did! I used my winnings to enjoy a free meal, which is always the best kind. I highly recommend checking out Hong Kong today—luck was definitely on my side!

A local favorite, we've been coming here for years and never disappointed. My favorite is General Tsaos it is amazing as well as the service they are fast, fresh and consistent. We came in very late, but the server kindly welcomed us. My dumpling soup was huge and excellent. My son ordered way too much food!
