China Star Superbuffet - Athens

Visit early for a fresher meal; you can't beat the price for unlimited food. I stopped by because I was about to start a fast, and after losing 28 pounds, I managed to pile up one plate before I was completely stuffed!

One of the dishes we've always loved is the pineapple shrimp, which is one of the main reasons we visit. However, they refilled every item on the buffet line EXCEPT for that dish. To make matters worse, they began closing down the kitchen and cleaning nearly an hour and a half before their advertised closing time of 9:30 PM. When we inquired about it, we were informed that we could order it to go, which didn’t sit well with us since we didn't want to pay extra for it on top of our already hefty bill, which came to nearly $80 for four people. As a business owner myself, I understand that supply costs have increased, but $80 before tip seems excessive. To top it off, my mother, who has had bariatric surgery and can't drink with her meals, asked for a to-go cup for her full glass of tea and was told it would cost $1.99. Given that we had already paid for the drink, it felt unfair to be charged extra for something that may not even be refilled. In summary, after over 20 years of loyal patronage, this was by far the worst experience we've had, and sadly, we won’t be returning.

My husband and I have LOVED eating here since we moved to Athens. However, we decided to eat there tonight and the service was awful. We paid for a full buffet and the majority of the food and seafood we come for was not even out. (We went at 7:00pm) We got water to drink. The bill was 32 dollars. It used to only be like 20 if that for the both of us. However, the service was not that great at all. The waitress walked passed us multiple times and took our dirty plates towards the end. We asked for the check and she watched my husband was writing the amount on the total line. She saw she was getting no tip. Yes, we usually always give good tips but the service was bad and the food was gross. My husband was really upset so he didn’t want to leave a tip. As I was signing the ticket she stands over me. I handed it to her and she was quick to hand it back and say I needed to write her a tip. I was in shock… it was very rude and unprofessional. I felt pressured. I caved and gave her a tip even though I shouldn’t have. We won’t be coming back.

This used to be my favorite buffet spot, but now it's way too pricey for the quality of food offered. They charge nearly full adult prices for my two kids, even though they hardly eat that much. We'll be searching for a better option.

We used to really enjoy this place. The taste of the food isn't the same. We live almost an hour away, I got sick and starting throwing up before we made it home, husband ended up sick as well. Our waitress was so rude. My husband went to pay at the register since she never came back to refill our drinks or give us our check, she acted like we were trying to leave without paying until I called her out on it and then she got real friendly when my husband opened his wallet and she saw his cash. And then she tried to keep the change from the $100 we paid with until my husband said something knowing we had already left her a tip on the table, even though she didn't deserve it. We have never not left a tip anywhere. It's a shame,this place used to be a good family spot
