While the ambiance is nothing fancy (it's filled with typical bar/tavern decor like pool tables and a jukebox from the previous establishment), the restaurant serves up fantastic Chinese dishes. We tried the General Tso's chicken, vegetable chow mein, and vegetable lo mein, and all of them were delicious. The owner runs the place single-handedly, acting as chef, server, and host, and does so with a friendly, attentive, and skilled manner. Good Chinese food can be hard to come by, especially in this area, but Li's definitely delivers. That's why we award it the prestigious 5-star rating!
During the COVID-19 pandemic, all restaurants were closed for dine-in service. However, Kurbside offered curb-side pick-up and dining room options. I sat at one of their outdoor tables on a quiet Wednesday afternoon and enjoyed a delicious meal with excellent service. Don't miss out on this fantastic dining experience!
Lee is always friendly and accommodating to everyone. One thing we have discovered over the years of dining here is to simply ask him what fresh items he has available for the day. The food is consistently delicious.
I’m glad we stopped at li’s kitchen on a last trip through id. we found eating very well, freshly cooked. I felt eating was authentic and it wasn't too salty, both were great, and our dishes had a beautiful balance of ingwer. the green products used in the veg dish of my gf were crunchy, fresh and seemed local. our lunch didn't take too long as it came out quickly. the air cone worked well. herr li is made of shanghai and is very friendly. re the atmosphere, we noticed that none of us found something to dry our hands after washing in the bathroom, but that is slightly corrected enough.
I'm a local of the area and have been visiting Li's kitchen for years. His food is usually excellent, with the best potstickers I've ever had. One thing that turns some people off is that Li will often suggest a different dish when you ask for one, please understand that this is because he may not have certain ingredients in stock. Restaurants struggle to survive in Council as it is, and there seems to be some local prejudice against Li making him hurt for buisness all the more(it's not uncommon for him to have days without a single customer). As a result he can't always afford to have everything on the menu in stock. He is also very friendly and loves to chat you up while he cooks. Give this place a shot and support this local hole in the wall.
