I’m on a mission to try all the local food places around the GSU campus and Mr. Hibachi is the latest stop on my adventures. The restaurant itself is a tightly set up space with bar style tables and chairs so there’s pretty much no chance to eat without having to sit near strangers. I saw another review say they immediately saw cockroaches when they opened the door but thankfully I didn’t see any pests on my visit. The food itself was indeed hibachi style food with choices of chicken, beef, or shrimp for most of the entrées and a small selection of side dishes. I ordered the Steak Hibachi with a side of fried shrimp and it was pretty good. I instantly knew what I was eating was hibachi but there wasn’t any sort of unique flavouring. It was just steak and steamed rice. Not bad but not Earth shatteringly good either. The staff are friendly though I think there might be a few communication issues here and there, I heard another person order something and they had to repeat it a few times because the cashier didn’t fully understand what they were saying. Overall I’d give Mr. Hibachi a solid 8/10, I’d definitely come back if I wanted to eat something with rice on campus.
After walking around in circles near Hurt Park I finally found this restaurant and I'm glad I did. It was delicious, freshly made and good prices. I had never tried hibachi until I got it. The worker seemed very kind and considerate. I will be back. Bonus it kept warm until I got home and I live near the airport.
Now! I’m not one to lie. The food was gross but i ate it cause i was hungry. The fried rice tasted like nothing but grease. And the chicken wasnt burnt but tasted burnt. The yum yum sauce taste like mayo with sugar. Lol never again. I thought it would be good because when i walked in it was packed, but then i realized it was just hungry college kids probably tired of the cafeteria food. It wasn’t worth the 30 minute wait.
I came and was immediately greeted by roaches upon opening the door. I brushed it off since I was starving and still placed an order in which was taken very rudely and took 45 minutes to get done. As if that all wasn’t bad enough I barely had any shrimp in my meal and was told “order double next time.” When I brought it up to the cashier. It’s not worth your time or money and there are some great hibachi places up the street.
