Chatterbox Drive-in - Augusta

They're no longer in business, but they were one of my favorite places to visit since my daughter was young. They had the best mac and cheese bites ever!

Not only is it a great spot to dine, but the Chatterbox also serves as a virtual museum dedicated to the doo-wop era. It’s a family-owned drive-in restaurant that transports you back to the good ol' days (even if you were part of them!). Inside, there’s a spacious circular dining area with plenty of tables for groups of all sizes. At the center, a stage usually features a classic car, hot rod, motorcycle, or other interesting items; during our visit, it showcased a stunning mint-condition 60s Cutlass (I really wanted to climb in and take it for a spin!). The music that accompanied our meal was perfect—just the right volume to enjoy without drowning out conversation or affecting our dining experience, which is a major issue in many restaurants. The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and generously portioned. I enjoyed a classic burger topped with Portobello mushrooms and Swiss cheese, while my companion had a flank steak wrap. Both were excellent, alongside the cheese and potato pierogies and the uniquely Kentucky French fried cucumbers. As we were leaving, we stumbled upon a street rally organized by a local motorcycle club, showcasing a variety of vintage bikes and their friendly owners eager to discuss their mechanical masterpieces. We both had a fantastic time at the Chatterbox and didn't want to leave!

I absolutely adore this restaurant! The decor is charming and lively, the staff is exceptionally friendly, and the food is fantastic. My kids always enjoy coming here, and our entire family has a wonderful time each visit.

FUN old family friendly family friendly environment w/classic car in building, 50's diner style decoration, a train around the circle, and old movie poster records. friendly owner who is proud of his business. Friendly polite young server, menu has variety the food is consistently affordable price.

Great place! Good food and great atmosphere! They used to do more with the car side service like serving on roller skates, but inside seating is just as fun! Fun before heading across the street for a baseball game! Car shows are there occasionally I believe!
