Jamaican Hut has certainly gained a new loyal customer in me, as I order from them at least twice a week. Just a heads up, there can be a wait, so patience is key!
The food was very flavorful!Like many reviews have stated, the wait time was lengthy. Normally, I don 't hold it against quality (you can 't rush art), however ~30 mins is excessive for 1 meal during non peak hours. Also, my initial option (jerk chicken) wasn 't available. When asked how long until it would be, one staff member shrugged his shoulders while another who overheard the conversation said 2 hours. Why would this not be something done before opening? The overall service wasn 't welcoming. Despite providing quality food, the experience left much to be desired.
The place was about 90 degrees inside. And they don't serve tea. They have $2 bottled drinks, and no refills. The music was so loud, I couldn't hear what the counter man was saying to me.I got the oxtails with cabbage. The oxtails and the cabbage were both overdone. The rice was underdone. It was crunchy. They don't have any bathrooms in the place.
Yes, the wait can be lengthy. However, I think many people don't fully appreciate how long it truly takes to prepare authentic dishes. This is especially true for meats like goat and beef, which require more than just an hour to cook properly. While I'm not familiar with their preparation routine and recognize that there may be room for improvement to reduce wait times, the food is absolutely worth it. The staff is friendly and genuinely appreciative of your support. Caribbean cuisine isn’t meant to be instant like fast food, so it’s normal to wait around 30 to 45 minutes. My advice is to be patient and place your order when you’re not in a hurry or too hungry. You’ll be glad you did!
I wish I could give this restaurant zero stars. If you order online for pickup, your food will not be ready at the designated time—or even close to it—because they don’t open when they’re supposed to. For delivery orders, drivers often leave after waiting, as the food isn’t prepared even after 40 minutes. The customer service here is lacking; they never apologize for delays. Instead, you are met with rude attitudes, as if you are the one inconveniencing them. For example, I placed an order at 12:15 PM. When the first delivery driver arrived, the food was still not ready. She waited about 10 minutes before leaving. Another driver showed up 20 minutes later, and the food was still not ready. I know she waited for at least an additional 15 minutes. By then, the food was over an hour past the estimated delivery time. The driver finally left the restaurant at 1:40 PM. Waiting from 12:15 to 1:40 is completely unacceptable. I have been more than patient with this place on multiple occasions, but the poor customer service and slow service have become ridiculous. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
