The menu on ChinaCafe4.com is really useful, especially with the pictures and detailed descriptions. Some of my favorite items are among the appetizers and the special dishes. The buns and noodles are categorized under pastas and are quite authentic. While they don’t specialize in Sichuan cuisine, the spicy chicken I tried was one of the best versions I’ve had in America – crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Our friendly server, who was Cantonese, recommended that we try the sweet and sour Guo Bao Rou (pork) next time, which is listed under the northeastern dishes. Most of the dishes were excellent, and the house chili oil is genuinely good. The only downside is the heavy, oily feeling you might have after a big Chinese meal, but then again, we only live once! I highly recommend checking it out.
I walked into the restaurant around 5 PM on Thursday and found it completely empty. After looking over the menu, I asked the host if I could be seated at a larger table since I was with a group of five, including four individuals in wheelchairs. She left to consult with someone else, who then suggested we sit at a smaller table. When I inquired why we couldn't use the bigger table, they explained that we would have to move the chairs out of the way. I suggested that we could simply push the chairs against the wall, but the response was that there wasn't enough space. I was really disappointed that they would tell a customer they couldn't sit at a specific table, especially when the restaurant was empty, just because it might make them uncomfortable.
This restaurant is located in a strip mall and is definitely not fast food, even though the interior has a diner-like vibe. The chefs serve the dishes straight from the kitchen to your table. The clientele is predominantly Asian, which suggests they know a good Chinese restaurant when they find one and often return for more. I particularly appreciated that the vegetables in the dishes we ordered were cut larger than what I'm used to. I highly recommend this place!
Love love this place! probably the only place I know in thever subway area, the gua bao rou (Chinese sweet acidic pork, covered with huge pieces of perfectly crispy teig roast pork in their delicious sweet acid sauce. (this is not your typical neon red American sauce. the salt pepper fish is also delish and they can not go wrong with any of their homemade dumplings. the owner lady is probably the sweetest person they ever meet and the service is amazing.
Authentic Chinese northeastern cuisine! The Guobaorou and the fried handmade dumplings are must-try. Will come back if in the area to try other dishes.
