Bahnhof - Ausserberg

My family and I were en route to Italy and needed to pass the Simplon tunnel to get to a hotel on the other side. When we arrived, we were told that the last train was full and that we couldn’t go through. With little choices we start looking for a place to sleep in and with the incredibly average high prices in the area (between 200 and 300 chf a night we chose the one that seems to offer a more decent price (150 chf without being too far. In 20 mins drive we are at the hotel, just in front of the station and perhaps not in a most particular panoramic location: well we need a roof, a bed and a bathroom so it is ok for us. Until we are told that for that price we would get a room without private bathrooms and that we would need to use the one in the corridor. Despite the courtesy and care of the owner, I find that this misinformation at the moment of booking should have been avoided. For 50 chf more (so we’re back at 200 chf... we are offered 2 rooms (4 beds since we are 2 adults and 2 kids one of which with bathroom and the other without. There are no many other options left, since the hotel is (for our purposes inconveniently located: taking the car again and go down the mountain at that time with 2 small kids is not an option so I decide to take the offer. Some dinner is needed so we take 2 cordon bleus, a bottle of water, and 2 drinks for us adults (the kids are already out! for a price of 94 chf... now, prices might be in the norm for the area, but I still find them high. I take the room without bathroom and leave wife and kids in the other. The room, aside from an unrenovated 70’s like mood, is very stinky... it didn’t help that it was just on top of the kitchen I suppose! Breakfast (simple but ok was included. The owner and all the personnel have been absolutely friendly and customer oriented, and we really liked and appreciated that. This is the only reason why I give it 3 and not 2 stars. 300 chf for one night and that experience starting with the ‘surprise’ AFTER the booking are something I’m very weary of.

Staff is very friendly. Location is convenient. Breakfast is good. and most important: I slept like a rock.

Schönes Hotel mit freundlicher Bedienung und guter Küche

Es war toll gewesen den Abend im Hotel Bahnhof bei einem gut Nachtessen und saubere Zimmer zu Erleben Kann das nur weiter empfehlen

Fr. 39. für weisse Pasta mit Butter, 3 halbe Eier mit undefinierbarer Sauce und sehr wenig Gemüse aus der Gefriere. Salat nicht sauber. Als ich das sah, ist mir der Hunger vergangen. Habe nichts angerührt, zu schrecklich. Ich bin vor dem Dessert gegangen. 1 Toilette auf dem Gang, mit 6 anderen Zi teilen. Viel zu teuer. Schreckliche Erfahrung. Leider keine Wahl. Es gibt nur 2 Hotels in Ausserberg. Das zweite war geschlossen, sonst wer ich gegangen. Musste alles bezahlen.
