I originally wanted to scallops but they ran out (we had a late dinner). a friend also has been and raved about the ribs but those were sold out also. Obviously those are popular choices as well! We got some cocktails that were really good also! The Isabella and Green Velvet. Overall, this place is so unique with it's ambiance and will remain a must when I am visiting ATX! Be sure to go upstairs and check out their rooftop seating!! Thanks, Boiler Nine for a great time!
Good all around experience. Friendly service and a nice wine and cocktail list. One item that differs from their neighbor True Food is they won't bring the parking validation to the table and you must pick it up at the hostess stand, otherwise the garage will bill for you for the entire parking duration. I had a vegetarian dish that was quite tasty, however for $19, I expected more than just a bowl of pasta. A small side salad and bread served with the pasta was expected. My husband had a $16 hamburger that he said was quite tasty but it came only with chips, not fries or onion rings. On the on-line reservation system, only high top tables were available although when we arrived there were plenty of regular tables available, and the hostess was kind enough to sit us elsewhere. We were inside the boiler room of the old Seaholm plant, which was kind of cool, but the lighting was so poor, we could not read our menus with the light on the phone.
The restaurant seemed to be attempting too many different things. For instance, the grilled brisket hash appeared to be a good and simple dish, but the dill sauce seemed out of place. The stacked pork enchiladas were tasty, but resembled more of a stacked chalupa. The avocado toast was unique, with more of a nut bread flavor than avocado. The bread was mainly made of sliced nuts. However, the service, atmosphere, and location were all excellent. The prices were a bit high, considering the portion sizes.
I really enjoyed my visit to this restaurant! I came here with two friends for brunch and the service was excellent. Our waiter was very friendly and the manager on duty came to clear our plates and check on our experience. Overall, a great experience! I ordered the kale salad and was surprised to see that they used curly kale that wasn't massaged. This was a bit unexpected for me, as I am used to dining at more upscale establishments. If you are in downtown Austin, I would expect the kale to be prepared differently. It felt a bit like I was eating kale from a fast food restaurant. However, the vinaigrette was delicious. Despite this, I would definitely return to this restaurant in the future.
