They also serve a fantastic dirty Roquefort martini. I must mention that I really appreciate the ambiance; it's charming and has a cozy bistro vibe. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance!
The food did not live up to the hype, but the service was excellent. Angela was a fantastic server.
**Pro Tip: Sit at the inside bar facing the kitchen!** I returned for a late lunch and had an incredible experience with stunning views, fantastic food, and a wonderful atmosphere. The vibe is much better inside, even if the outside area is where everyone wants to be seen. While I was dining, Javier was overseeing the kitchen and took the time to speak with me about a food allergy concern, which I really appreciated. I also witnessed a smooth transition when the Chef arrived, and I was captivated by the impressive cooking process, especially the preparation of the grilled octopus. It truly felt like dinner and a show! The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was charming, although the outside area was quite noisy. My waitress was fantastic, making me feel like I was having an upscale experience, aside from the price tag. I tried the lobster roll (without the bread) and it was delicious—the lobster was perfectly cooked! There was a generous portion of lobster, which isn't always a guarantee, and it felt fresh rather than prepackaged. The slaw, however, felt like a missed opportunity and didn’t add much to the dish. The people sitting at the outside bar made my visit even more enjoyable, contributing to the overall amazing experience. As for parking, it was quite challenging, but then again, that's typical for Austin! All in all, I had a fantastic time.
Small but very crowded trendy spot in a converted old house off West 6th Street. Service was spotty and uninterested. The food was OK. The drinks were nothing special. Very tight quarters, especially in the bar. Customers were constantly being ran into by food runners, servers and other customers while they were seated. In order to access the rest rooms, you must go through the service area, which is, naturally, crowded with busy staff doing their jobs and who must get out of your way to allow access. During my visit, the restroom did not have a toilet top (for sitting down to go) nor did they have hand towels stocked. I do not mind spending good money for a good experience. But at $100 per person, I am not impressed and do not recommend based upon my experience.
Pricey but worth it. Blows all the new “oyster bars” in town out of the water.
