El Secreto De Abuela #1 - Austin

I gave this restaurant four stars. I visited during lunch on a busy Mother's Day. I originally wanted the enchiladas de mol, but the waitress informed me they were out of mole sauce, so I ended up ordering the shrimp enchiladas instead. However, the person I was dining with received the chicken mole platter instead. When I questioned the waitress about the mole sauce situation, she said they hadn't made any more and I couldn't get my mole sauce, but the person I was with received their chicken mole dish with mole sauce on top. Overall, the service was lacking and the waitress had an attitude when we asked about the mix-up. Despite this, the food was delicious.

The food at El Secreto de Abuela is truly delicious. Most restaurants excel at one thing and fall short in other areas, but here everything is done exceptionally well. The red salsa is flawless - not too greasy, lumpy, or diluted. Every flavor in it harmonizes perfectly. The rice is full of flavor, and the camarones a la diabla dish I ordered was fantastic. I definitely plan on returning and bringing friends and family here when they come to Austin.

The food and staff at this restaurant are amazing. However, they do not allow substitutions on sides. Some people have allergies to certain sides, and they charge an extra fee to remove it from the plate.

I've driven past this place for MANY MANY years, decided to order breakfast tacos for Bosses Day this year! BEST DECISION EVER! They separated all of the different tacos so we didn't have to open each one up, the tortillas both corn and flour were homemade, and delicious! the salsas and the Pico de Gallo were great! And everyone I spoke with was so sweet and helpful!! New place for breakfast!!

Been awhile since I was last here .. about Three years...Had Breakfast of Cactus, eggs with beans and Potatoes... Great Food.Anything Food ordered from the Menu will always be served hot
