The filling was light and fluffy, and the portion size was quite generous. **Over Easy Eggs:** Unfortunately, these didn't meet my expectations. They arrived sunny side up, lacking salt or pepper, despite my request for them to be served over easy with seasoning. When they came back, they still had the green garnish but were again without salt and pepper. They were barely poached and excessively oily, with no browning or crust at all. I opted to ask for salt at the table instead of sending them back again, as it didn't seem worth it. **Frites:** The fries were fresh and thin, though slightly under-seasoned. They were accompanied by a decent aioli, which helped improve the flavor. **Crepe:** The crepe cake was a mild disappointment. It came as a slice that was less than an inch wide. The portion was tiny and lacked flavor, with the crepe layers being unusually thick. While it looked cute, it was the least satisfying dish of the meal, and we didn’t even finish it. The service was courteous, but the wait was slightly longer than average. Be prepared to hunt for parking as well. One last note: we chose not to try any of the baked goods as the display was open-air, and we observed flies landing on them.
We just wrapped up a fantastic New Year’s Day brunch here! All the staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Our server Kyle was particularly outstanding. We ordered an iced oat milk latte and herbal tea for drinks, and shared the gingerbread croissant, which had the perfect balance of sweetness and spice. For our main dishes, we enjoyed the quiche of the day and the duck grits, both of which were exceptional. I would highly recommend this place based on our meal, and I can't wait to return to try more dishes! They do change their menu quite regularly, which might not suit everyone, but we personally love the opportunity to explore new options!
The weekend brunch menu offers some dishes that aren't available during the week, and that's my only complaint. I visited for brunch and found everything to be delicious. I highly recommend all the items I've shared in the photos below. I would definitely return for the same dishes!
Epicerie is a must-visit spot for coffee and brunch in Austin. The establishment boasts a charming gourmet grocery and an array of mouth-watering French pastries. The interior is beautifully modern and exudes a pleasant atmosphere. During our visit, we savored some freshly brewed coffee and indulged in their delectable croissants, which were nothing short of amazing. The service was excellent, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Overall, we had a delightful experience and I highly recommend Epicerie.
Look everything you need to know about this place lies within the hearts of the staff. As a longtime Austinite, you'll know the bartender knows everything about anything, so you should listen. Get what's recommended and you'll have no fuss and all the fun. In all seriousness, the food was well above par. Here's what was ordered Drinks Negroni af, a Chenin Blanc, beer, and a Sazerac Apps Oysters of 3 varieties, French onion soup, black rice hush puppies, and crab claws Food Gnocchetti Desert Beignet (don't forget these) Only complaints just more salt on the Gnocchetti, but to each their own. Chef knows! But, unfortunately, to me, the crab claws were a bit of a miss by giving an earthy flavor, which was an unexpected change compared to how other restaurants, like Lenoir, do them. If you're expecting savory, you won't get that. Maybe I wished the claws came in a sauce rather than a brine of sorts but like I said, the chef knows! All in all, this was a great dining experience and I hope you get the service we received. Thanks, Chef
