The ambience and food was great but the band was playing when we got there and it made talking really difficult. By the end my throat hurt from having to speak super loudly to be heard. I’d go back on a quieter evening.
Located in the 4th level of Hotel Van Zandt near Rainey street. I was looking for a new place to have brunch for my sister’s birthday. We have been to most of the best places for brunch in Austin. However we have not been to Geraldine’s for brunch. We decided to valet park because parking is not great since it close to Rainey street. There is an elevator to the right of the entry of the hotel that brings you directly to the restaurant and level 4. The restaurant is warm and welcoming. Lots of wood, leather and rich fabrics. It faces the pool. There was live music. There was a full bar. The menu is short but a decent selection. We order fresh squeezed juice. We tried the standard breakfast, smashed burger, dish equipment to the migas, avocado toast and short rib quesadilla. Everything was delicious. They brought a cinnamon bun with ice cream and a candle for my sister. People were friendly and food came out fast. Attire for brunch is casual. There are people who were well dressed and people with nice shorts and tshirts. I highly recommend this place for brunch.
Food good, but do NOT sit on patio for famous sunset view..there is none! Just view of skyscraper construction and metal!
This was a really unexpected experience. Went to the hotel’s restaurant where I was staying for a quick bite. The menu is eclectic and different in many ways. No obvious starters mains separation, just a list of carefully curated items, with some exotic touches. I won’t go in the details of the menu, it is better for you to do yourself a favour and discover it yourself.
The atmosphere is nice. The food was mixed. The carrots and potatoes were yummy. But it was very very hard to like the shrimp when you are paying $32 and it arrives with only 5 shrimp. Our waitress was pleasant and stopped by regularly. But other servers bring the food and they just throw it on the table. Overall we found the evening unpleasant and overpriced.
