Ocean Grill - Avila Beach

We stopped for dinner on Father's Day while traveling back to San Francisco from Los Angeles. The food was exceptional; my wife claimed the Caesar salad was one of the best she had ever tasted. I enjoyed the salmon ceviche served with homemade tortilla chips, which was fantastic. The biggest surprise for me was the clam chowder. I've been on a quest for the best clam chowder for the past 40 years, and I would rank Ocean Grill's among the top five I've ever had. It was thick, packed with clams, and had a wonderfully rich clam flavor. While some of the potato chunks were a bit large, there were likely three times as many clams as potatoes, so that’s more of an observation than a complaint. At just $9, it was worth every penny; I had to resist the urge to lick the bowl clean. Overall, dinner for the three of us was under $50, which is a fantastic deal for the California Coast. We make the drive between San Francisco and Los Angeles three to four times a year, and we will definitely stop by Ocean Grill again in the future.

Excellent service! Our waiter, Luke, was fantastic with my son, also named Luke. The food was outstanding! We enjoyed three different flatbreads, clam chowder, and calamari. The view of the beach was amazing as well. I can't wait to return!

We've eaten at the Ocean Grill in Avila Beach several times and have enjoyed every meal. The Thai shrimp cup is my favorite. It's a nice way to spend a leisurely day on a weekend and kick back and chill!

We had a fantastic dining experience at the Ocean Grill last night. We brought along our two Standard Poodles and initially planned to order takeout, but they had a table set up right outside and graciously invited us to dine there. Kudos to the management for hiring such professional and friendly staff! The hostesses and our waitress were incredibly welcoming and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal! By the way, the beet, strawberry, arugula, and goat cheese salad was absolutely sublime. This restaurant is definitely a must-try when you're in Avila!
