Located in the heart of Aylesbury, this delightful pub is a hidden gem. I ordered the steak, ale, and horseradish pie with champ mash, kale, broccoli, and red wine gravy, and it was absolutely delicious. I also enjoyed a refreshing pint of Chiltern Bitter. The customer service was top-notch - the staff were friendly and professional. I highly recommend this place.
I stopped here for a bit of breakfast after a pretty horrible couple of days staying at the local hospital, I can honestly say that to my pleasant surprise I had what I believe to be the best Full English Breakfast that I have had in a pub in over 25 years, the ingredients were all of a high quality and were cooked to an equally high standard, I only wish that there was more of it. It should probably be noted that the staff were also impeccably polite to me, I was served extremely quickly and without fuss and the place was spotlessly clean. Not being from the area I have no idea what the place was like when it was previously a Wetherspoons, certainly some of the previous reviews suggest that the place isn’t a nice place to be, but clearly now that it has apparently been taken over, they are obviously trying to turn around its previous reputation and certainly my impression was that the place was doing a fantastic job of it, I rarely find myself in the area, however should I find myself back there anytime soon I shall be making a beeline for this place, cheers fellers
Three of our party had the Wetherspoons ap, and ordered their drinks and food on it. The two of us without went to the bar and ordered our drinks, which were served, then tried to order food, only to be told that the kitchen was closed to receive goods. When asked for how long, the staff were very vague, suggesting anywhere between twenty minutes and two hours. As a party we were under some time pressure, so we returned to our colleagues to let them know the news. They obviously had not received any food, but neither had they received their drinks. They spoke to staff, and received their beer, but could not leave because they had already paid for their food. The two of us finished our beers within about twenty minutes, but staff were still unable to give us a time frame for reopening the kitchen, so we left our (hungry) companions behind, and ate elsewhere. They did not make it to our next appointment!
Typical old style Spoons, lots of different alcoves/areas to sit in, the main bar area where you order food and drink is small with a few seats. Some seating outside facing the market place. Toilets upstairs. We had breakfast and it was good, served up piping hot, coffee at 99p with free refills is great value
