Shaun, his sister Sophie and brother Ross were all instrumental in ensuring this event was a plesant experience and I must not forget the bar staff who coped extremely well despite the wrath of a prior event. A wonderful spread of food awaited us, this was not just what i had hoped for, this was much more than that with food spare. I could not have dreamed of such a banquet, fit for meat eaters, vegetarian, vegan and celiac alike, all explained so there was no cross contamination for anyone and special items were cooked on order. The spread was so good and in such abundance that I invited many more people from the pub to partake of the food and not skimp on the portions they gave themselves. Everyone was grateful and full, happy and had a wonderful time celebrating the new arrival and time spent together, obviously the children enjoying themselves in the large enclosed garden area was the main attraction and like the food didn't disappoint at all. THANK YOU SHAUN AND ALL AT THE ROSE AND CROWN .
Brilliant breakfast really nice food. Excellent value £9.95 for large including tea/coffee or juice. Well worth a visit.
Stopped off here last Sunday 3rd November after asking locals for a good pub for Sunday lunch. It did not disappoint. Dennis and his son run the Inn and it's very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. There was a choice of beef, beef pork or local chicken for Sunday lunch. We tried the beef, it was excellent. Served with mashed roast potatoes, carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, peas and runner beans, all freshly cooked. The Yorkshire Pudding had a lovely bit of stuffing and sweet roast turnip in it, nice touch. Gravy horseradish sauce too, all for £10 or about £6 for kids. A nice selection of puddings and ales too. A bar drink, Sunday lunch main, pudding and a coffee is great value at around £20 per head, even more so considering it's fresh. I'm told the produce is local as much as possible. There is a weekday menu (not served on Sundays) and it had a wide variety of pub favourites. Dennis the landlord was very hospitable and has from conversation spent many years making this a welcoming pub for food, functions such as weddings and it has a lovely enclosed garden which is safe for children and has lots of toys. They've made a lovely extension with lantern roof windows for dining in the winter and the interior has been tastefully redecorated throughout. The pub was warm and cosy on a winter's day and not at all crowded. I was on a rare visit to Suffolk and this was one of those lovely rare finds of a pub to stumble upon. Stop for Sunday lunch, you won't be disappointed.
We enjoy visiting the Rose and Crown on a regular basis for their wonderful fish and chips. It's always fantastic. The fish is enormous with really light and crispy batter and lovely non greasy chips, all served in a very friendly atmosphere. It's a limited menu but what they do is done very, very well. We'll be back again soon!
We stopped by for a couple of pints and were impressed by the excellently maintained beer at this pub. The owner, Shaun, was very welcoming and the establishment was clean and well-maintained.
