Gasthof Zlaimwiesn - Bad Aussee

We spent a week in Grundlsee this year. We had eaten at the obvious places that are easily found and I did a quick check of Grundlsee.at to see what other places we could walk to for dinner. I found the Zlaimwiesn was only about 10 mins walk from our accommodation (Club Mondi) so we decided to try it. And we went back a 2nd time. Location: On the South West of the Lake. There is a small ski slope with the top of its tow visible and this place lies at the bottom of the slope. From Club Mondi, go through the reception area and out the back entrance, so away from the car park and this leads up to a T junction. Turn left, walk up a gentle slope with a large meadow on the right. Take the 2nd on the right which is after the meadow and in the trees and this leads to Zlaimwiesn. I think on our 2 visits that we were the only tourists, it seemed a popular place with locals. There are 2 areas for eating, the new area which is smarter and non smoking and the main, older area where there is smoking. On our first visit, we had the standard menu. It is big on schnitzels, both pork and turkey. My partner had the best schnitzel that he has ever tasted. We heard them preparing it fresh and it was pork fillet with a layer of ham, mushroom and cheese, all wrapped in breadcrumbs, a real meal in itself and I had a turkey one which was a lovely large piece of white meat. I think the main courses were about 10 euros each. On our 2nd visit it was PIZZA night (Monday Friday). Even if you do not know German, the Pizzas have all the usual names so you can guess what is in them. We had a calazone and hawaii. These were as good as anything we get back home and were less than 8 euros each. I am not sure if they had menus in anything except German or spoke more than German, so I think a basic menu vocab would be usefull if you venture here. It would be a good place to take the kids to for pizza and if you wanted something more traditional.

Super freundliches Personal, sensationelle Torten von der Chefin selbst gemacht, liebevoll eingerichtet mit super Dekoration. Sehr empfehlenswert

Hallo. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich. Das Ambiente ist angenehm mit Blick auf die Skipisten. Das Essen ist einwandfrei, besonders die Kuchen. Später auf Wiedersehen. Sehr nett.

Kleiner Geheimtipp. Super nettes Café mit sehr freundlichen Wirtsleuten und extrem guten hausgemachten Torten. Ich kann mit Sicherheit sagen, das war die beste Torte meines Lebens und jede einzelne Kalorie wert!
