Cafe Schubert - Bad Herrenalb

We started with good intentions by sharing a large salad between two. However we found room for almond-topped apple cake which was excellent. Service was OK.

We were travelling through the Black Forest and came across this restaurant. We stopped here for coffee and cake. The view is good and the service is good. The restaurant also serves lunch. It only accepts cash as payment, no credit cards.

We stayed in Bad Herrenalb for 5 days and were so impressed by the Schubert Cafe Konditorei we went back 3 times. There is a shop selling a wonderful array of speciality German cakes such as Sachertorte and for a small extra charge these can be served in the adjoining comfortable cafe or the outside seating area. They look as if they will be very sweet but in fact they are perfectly balanced and quite delicious. The staff do not speak English but are friendly and the coffee is good too. Don't miss any opportunity to visit!
