After a tiring afternoon shopping in Baie-St-Paul my daughters and I were looking for somewhere to sit down, have a tea or coffee, and something nice to snack on. We decided to give the tiny bakery "Patisserie Duo Des Saveurs" a try because we like to support local businesses. What a great choice! Run by two local bakers, the "Patisserie Duo Des Saveurs" serves a fantastic selection of freshly made in store baked goods: breads, fine pastries, tarts, birthday and wedding cakes, cupcakes, and macarons, along with teas and coffee. There are only two or three tables so it's a very small place, and for the best selection you want to come early in the day. I had a slice of lemon tart with a freshly made to order coffee, and my daughters had a variety of different macaron flavours. My lemon tart slice was finished with a kitchen torch to caramelize the meringue while I watched. The filling was nicely lemony on a crisp cookie base though I would have liked to have seen more meringue and filling. My daughters tried the vanilla, lemon and strawberry macarons. My daughters absolutely loved the macarons. Crispy with a delicate crunch on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside with nicely flavoured fillings, they declared them to be perfect. if we're ever in the area again we're definitely going to make a stop at the "Patisserie Duo Des Saveurs" and carry away more of those macarons and coffee.
I was incredibly impressed with the meal I had at Spruce.
We had a great dinner the other night. The specials list included genuine Wagyu beef, which was a definite must-try for me.
My partner and I recently visited this restaurant for a date night. We were fortunate to be seated at a cozy table towards the back of the restaurant, tucked away in a quiet corner.
