The Munster Arms Hotel

I joined a friend for a catch-up & we dined at the Munster Arms in Ballarat. On a cold night it was a true oasis...warmed by a beautiful open fire, we were welcomed into the newly refurbished and quirky venue by "eager to please" staff. We selected a range of dishes from the very diverse menu, which were delicious and well presented. I enjoyed some lovely different style beers (different from the mainstream range usually seen in country pubs) while my companion sampled some bubbles off the wine list. In all, the venue was terrific...friendly team, relaxed and cosy ambience, excellent food and a wonderful drinks selection. Worth a visit...

We were booked for 12:30 pm lunch. The owner? (an older man) murmured something about some wines not being on the list due to the printers (I thought he was joking). When we went to order a wine, we were advised they did not stock this and offered an alternative. Entrees were okay - not brilliant, and we didn't get our mains .until 1:50 pm. My salmon was dry and unappetising - none of us enjoyed our meals. The young waitress, in typical auto-mode, asked "how were your meals"?. Our two adult children replied "not bad" - that's when a good waiter/restaurant pick up on the vibes and continue the conversation. Zilch

We ate here for dinner with friends. While the food was very good the food service was slow and uncoordinated with some of our fellow diners not receiving their meals until well after we had finished our meal.

Four of us dined here for lunch on a cold Sunday in June.We chose the $35 set roast lunch which included a glass of wine, two roast meats, heaps of roasted vegetables, and a dessert. They served us roast pork, roast lamb, roast potatoes, and all the trimmings.We all agreed the everything was superb and delicious. Really fresh and cooked with lots of love.The service was outstanding, and the people so very friendly.We left absolutely satisfied and would definitely go here again.
