I came back from the athletics in athlone with a car full of hungry teenagers. we stopped in ballinasloe and wandered to the jointhouse. a beautiful fire ignited and was as welcoming as the very friendly (and very high) barman. they offer a very comprehensive menu and there was something for everyone on it. we had a mix of main courses and wraps and it was nice to see that they supply great food and the prices are still very affordable. I had a pack and then I had one of the most delicious scenes I've ever tasted so light and buttery. the barmann assured me that they were baked at home and I almost asked him about the recipe! before we were gone, I bought a glass honey that was advertised as a native. they told me that the owners are holding women on their farm. Now they can't locate more than that can now. I was really impressed by the state house. it was clean, warm, friendly with good eating and it did not break the bank.
On the way through ballinasloe in the house for eating on the basis of the fantastic crucicus stopped and I was not disappointed. I have a cozy table next to the open fire with view of the whole pub and the craic was great to watch between the staff and the customers. the personal was fantastic. really attentive and regularly checked for us. stuart served us and was great with the children to make sure they got everything they needed, he is a loan for the business! I ordered the bark and it was great. the rest of our travel party was thrilled and if we had more time, we would have had desserts, they looked beautiful. all in all, very happy with our visit and hopefully we will call again.
I loved it. warm cozy fire that was delicious. it would highly recommend, sorry that I have no photos of eating as we dive directly into our steak-sambos
Good traditional bar, homemade food. helpful friendly staff
