Since it was my first visit, I appreciated being left alone to decide what I wanted. I will definitely be back—it's a lovely little gem for a relaxing escape!
I’ve never seen a 12oz latte for 8 in my entire life until I came to this place and I live in NYC… how are you charging 1.50 to add a shot of flavor that’s not even made in house??? And the pretty standard upgrade to oat milk is .50c, and yet it’s 1.25 here how are you price gouging me that hard for having a dairy allergy? I’ve never seen a coffee shop THIS overpriced before, it’s actually shocking.
The staff is very friendly and attentive, but the prices are quite high. Half of the menu items were unavailable, and the food was disappointing. Sometimes, it's perfectly fine to focus solely on drinks.
**Pros:** The cafe is bright, beautiful, and clean, with plenty of seating and decent Wi-Fi. **Cons:** Unfortunately, there are no snacks and the pastry case only featured one type of cookie and Red Bull, which is a bit odd. The barista came across as aloof, bordering on rude or snobby; sure, you order via a touchscreen, but would it hurt to acknowledge customers with a simple hello or thank you? My cappuccino's foam lacked substance and fizzled out within a minute or two. I hate to be that customer, but for $4, I expected a bit more effort—the foam shouldn't just be air. Additionally, when not making drinks, the barista was hidden in the back, making potential customers feel confused when they came in, often leaving without ordering. I overheard a couple of them mumbling, "Is anyone working here?" It's quite disappointing.
The place has a charming atmosphere with a nice view of the Penn Station building and plenty of outdoor seating. I really appreciated the artwork and community flyers on display, which appear to showcase local Black artists—a significant plus for me. The ability to order using an iPad was efficient and convenient. However, if you're a fan of rich and flavorful mochas, this might not be the ideal spot for you. I ordered an iced mocha, and it tasted overwhelmingly sweet without much flavor, making it quite unpleasant for me to drink. The menu is quite limited as well; the pastry selection consists solely of cookies and bananas, and the food options are mainly bagels. I wasn't very confident about the quality of the bagels due to the overall condition of the space, with many of the plants looking wilted and the fridge display case appearing quite messy.
