When we chose the Pierpoint, we based our decision on the 5-star reviews we were seeing. For me, the menu was a winner. I started with the pumpkin pirogi. The dumplings were drowning in sauce and the flavor was lost. I followed with the lamb chops with pan seared vegetables and garlic potato puree. The chops were over-cooked. The veggies were straight out of the freezer bag, to include the tumbled carrot pieces. The potatoes were grainy and flavorless. Instant or frozen, I guess. My dining partner got the mixed greenhouse salad with Maytag blue cheese (that was fine), this was followed by the scallops, which were OK. The scallops were accompanied by a mushy brussell spout slaw. There was a dust up when the waitress/sous chef/bar tender apparently erred when pan frying the scallops. While the Pierpoint may have at one time been a gem of a restaurant, I suggest you look elsewhere. Baltimore has MANY restaurants superior to what we experienced at the Pierpoint.
My husband and I were visiting from out of town and booked from a recommendation that the crabcakes were the best, but don 't expect super good service and the place is a little quirky. Our experience was different. Our server was wonderful! She worked her butt off serving six tables exceptionally well. She was personable, attentive and made us feel special. Oh, and she was the bartender, hostess as well as the only server. Now for the 'to die for ' crabcakes. They were good, but just o.k. Lots of crab meat, but the breading and presentation was just meh... We were finishing our meal and drinks and having a good time until the cat walked by our table. Yep. A. Cat. The chef set down in a booth and explained to all the diners how she had to bring her to work because of some anxiety issues the cat was having. This was explained in great, gross detail. Apologized that she got out of her kennel, and made no move to remove her as she was laying on the couch when we left. My husband tipped the wonderful bartender/server/hostess extra as we walked out the door. He explained it was 'battle pay '. She deserved it, for sure! I get 'quirky ', but will definitely seek out other restaurants when we 're back in town.
Great food and service in a quaint, intimate casual setting!!
Excellent food, location is a bit out of the way and the ambiance is average. Service was excellent. Good local experience.
