Their website states, We treat you not as a customer, but as family. Most of the menu is vegetarian or vegan or can easily be veganized. The two items I tried were Kabul Chaynaki, a hearty vegetable and chickpea stew, and Sabzi, a mildly spiced spinach dish. Both were flavorful and satisfying! All entrees come with a two pieces of Afghan bread. The ambiance is much like a teahouse, and the menu features a number of exotic teas, such as Butterfly Pea Flower. Fantastic Afghan food!!! Beautiful owner/cook/host and delicious fresh food.
Cosy little restaurant with Afghan cuisine. Food was tasteful and delicious. Vegetarian options were simply vegan to make as you only had to leave the yoghurt sauce. Very good tea selection. owner was warm and hospitable
Spring café is a tiny place. Despite its bright colors, it is easy to pass. It's worth looking. It is one of these super tiny places of space and time compared to the rest of Hampden. It is more small town European in feeling where the one worker, is the owner, is the cook. The food is made with this kind of space. All dishes are the kind that are cooked all day. The menu is as tiny as the place, but has made a few vegetarian elements slightly vegan by spending yogurt. They are usually slowly roasted pumpkin or eggplants. I had the eggplant that was creamy and rich. The familiar middle eastern spices with small changes of black pepper and chili oil to make the dish unique.
