Wayward Smokehouse Federal Hill

I went to Flip Night and received a free drink with my flip. I usually tip, but since I had just come from an expensive dinner, I thought it was nice to enjoy the complimentary drink without tipping this time. However, the bartender yelled at me and then kicked me out right away. I understand that tipping is customary, but it seems excessive to be thrown out for not tipping on what was offered as a free drink.

I had a rather disappointing experience at this restaurant. Initially, the atmosphere and the friendly staff gave me high hopes. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse. The draft beer list was partially obscured by a speaker, which was frustrating. The cocktail I ordered was subpar, and the main courses were even more disappointing. The fried chicken was tough and overcooked, and the "BBQ" sandwiches were shockingly flavorless. The only highlight of the meal was the appetizers, which were actually quite good. It’s not surprising that the place was completely devoid of locals on a Monday night.

I had an amazing experience! Bartenders Will and Chloe truly understand the meaning of hospitality, welcoming everyone with their warm and attentive service. The margaritas were perfect, and it’s not every day you find Allagash White on draft—a delightful surprise for someone visiting from the West Coast. The vegetarian flatbread was also delicious and definitely a must-try. I ended up spending much more time there than I had intended, all thanks to the fantastic atmosphere and wonderful bartenders. I can't wait to go back!

Was thinking about the best burger I have ever had and it was at wayward 6 years ago when they had the poached pear burger. Glad to see its still open
