Weinstube Zeis - Bamberg

A large part of Bamberg's old town and the local sights have faded. It's early in the afternoon, and the stomach reports. As we are on the fruit market, become a popular place in Bamberg for seeing and seeing, we look out for a free place among the numerous cafés and restaurants with outdoor gastronomy – and have success. In front of the restaurant – Café Zeis on the fruit market 3 is a table free. The Ambience The restaurant – Café Zeis offers guests space to stay in a multi-storey historic building, which is painted on the front side. Four seamlessly arranged windows with small stained glass panes and a lady figure embedded in the wall with canopy mark the first floor. On the ground floor, light falls into the guest room through two arc windows extending almost to the ground and entering through a brown double door in the same arc architecture as the windows. In front of the restaurant there are numerous tables with benches and chairs. Here we take place at one of the tables. It is still warm on this first day of October, most guests sit outside and parole in their native language: beside us Russians, front side Americans, dark-skinned and Chinese – the fruit market, a melting pot of nations. Relaxed and cozy my wife and I sit here, with a look at the rainy life. Although we have only seen the guest room during the walk to the toilet and cannot judge, we give four stars for the ambience outside. The service Several service ladies pointed from table to table and have a lot to do. Nevertheless, we are quickly served by two of the ladies, one of them is identified with “Zeis Muddi” as an operation on the bill. “Zeis Muddi” has learned her job, fast, friendly, the other lady alike. It is asked if it's fine and everything's right. The Russians will explain the map in English. “Zeis Muddi” and her competitor earned four stars for the service. Food and beverage We do not want a big lunch, the "Hüngerchen" must be breastfeeded. “Zeis Muddi” has brought us the menus and shortly afterwards our well-cooled drinks: • Silvaner (0.2 l for € 4.60 for my wife and one • Specific (0.3 l for € 3.20 for me. From the tortured menu with, among other things, the usual steak and carving variations, my entrusted • homemade goulash soup with bread (4,20 €, and I decide for • three Bamberger Bratwörscht in Onionessud with bread (8,10 €. Homemade goulash soup with bread The goulash soup is spiced and tastes deadly, but it has got too much salt. The meat in it is dry and hard. It also does not look like beef, but rather to pigmeat. In this respect, the advertising is “homemade” plausible, because only in rare cases there are probably goulash soup with pork in the can. The bread has survived more than the day, it is no longer fresh. Three Bamberger Bratwörscht in Onionessigsud Bread The three Bamberger Bratwörscht are largely without taste. The meat broth can only have passed by the sausage barrels at a proper distance. The brew tastes sweet, presumably from the vegetables with which it was made. Onion rings, carrots and leek cover one of the sausages. If it hadn't been a good portion of pepper in broth, it would have missed any spice. For the slice of bread in the basket the already described applies. The "hero" is gone when we ate. We did not have a taste experience. There are no more than two stars left for food and drinks. Cleanliness The tables outside are clean, the dishes and the best corner as well. We see that the tables are wiped when guests have left. The toilets are also clean. Three and a half stars for cleanliness. The price-performance ratio The prices are far from as favourable as in neighbouring rural Frankenland, but close to the city level. For this money we want better quality. But the place probably lives from the tourists – and they only come once. More than two stars for the price-performance ratio are not included. We are not going back to the conclusion of the tourist destination. What we ate in the restaurant – Café Zeis does not give any incentive. “Zeis Muddi” will no longer be able to serve us: two and a half stars for the conclusion and no recommendation.

Good food is fine and you sit nice

See nice condition. Small cozy place. We were late but still got everything. The food was good and good. With our impressions we can recommend the place.
