5 star for the retro Bollywood ambience. Good quantity chai.
What better way to spend the cold evenings of Bengaluru than with a hot cup of chai and some pakoras? Well, this cosy little café located on JNC Road in Koramangala is your answer to all of your chai needs.<br/ <br/ SHORT REVIEW:<br/ <br/ Pocket-friendly pricing, no-nonsense menu that has all your needs covered, cosy and comfortable place, and conveniently located on the JNC Road. What more can you ask of a café? Oh yes, the food is quite tasty as well. No complaints about the service either!<br/ <br/ MUST TRY:<br/ <br/ Bulldozed, Darjeeling Soda, Tofu Bhurji, Angrezi Maggi, Pesto Maggi, Chikku Cream<br/ <br/ DETAILED REVIEW:<br/ <br/ Was here one evening with a couple of friends, so we tried a few items from the menu. These included:<br/ <br/ Bulldozed – This is a unique twist on iced tea, which is laced with Red Bull, which I love. The drink was really amazing and helped me feel quite refreshed.<br/ <br/ Darjeeling Soda – Although listed under the category of teas, this is primarily lime soda. However, it was one among the better lime sodas I’ve had anywhere.<br/ <br/ Angrezi Maggi – A twist on the normal maggi, with enhanced flavours and spices, it is large enough to fill your tummy. The taste is awesome too!<br/ <br/ Pesto Maggi – Another variant of their Maggi preparation, this has hints of pesto sauce. While I would have liked the pesto flavour to be a bit more dominant, it was tasty nonetheless.<br/ <br/ Tofu Bhurji – This dish deserves a super-special shoutout! Even if you aren’t a fan of Tofu, after eating this dish, you are sure to fall in love with it. It tasted almost exactly like egg/paneer bhurji and you couldn’t even make out it is tofu! Kudos to the chef!<br/ <br/ Garlic Khakra – This a normal khakra, nothing unique about it, but serves as a good accompaniment to a hot cup of tea.<br/ <br/ Alu Samosa – Not many places in Bangalore make good samosas, and this one here, I have to admit, is a really good one.<br/ <br/ Shroomy Risotto – Didn’t have high expectations of a good risotto, considering it is a chai café, but boy was I wrong! The risotto was quite authentic and yummy, with generous helpings of mushroom.<br/ <br/ Mumbaiwalla Sandwich – Had some high expectations on this sandwich, but it was pretty average.<br/ <br/ Mosambi Juice – This is probably the tastiest and thickest Mosambi juice I have tasted. Loved it!<br/ <br/ Chikku Cream – Not many places serve fruit cream in Bangalore and I was excited to try this item. It was heavenly to say the least. Definitely a must-have if you visit.<br/ <br/ I wasn’t in the mood for hot teas that day, so decided to give it a skip, and come back some other time for their hot teas, which I have heard are awesome.<br/ <br/ OVERALL VERDICT:<br/ <br/ If you like having tea with some light snacks, either solo or with friends, this place is definitely worth a visit.
We visited this place for an evening snack and tried a few items. The food was awesome and the service was prompt. We tried Angrezi Maggi, Nachos Platter, Shikanji and Darjeeling Soda. All the dishes were prepared well and the taste was great. The service was also quite good. Looking forward to visiting this place again.
This cafe with its rustic and Bollywood styled theme is worth a visit. The colorful interior teamed with bollywood movie posters and quirky lighting add up to the glam factor. They have an extensive range of teas for every pallate.
