It is located very close to Khao San Road, the legendary street where all backpackers pass through to get their bearings. In my opinion, Bangkok has a thousand cheap and much more authentic places where nobody will harass you to buy anything on the street. This vegetarian cooking school can offer you a variety of new flavors with the option of not turning into a fire-breathing dragon (no spicy please). Vegetable purees, spring rolls, pad thai, and noodles - everything is delicious! In addition, you can enjoy an afternoon of cooking classes and learn how to make, I believe, four dishes. Just thinking about it makes my stomach growl.
May Kaidee (the owner's name) is my go-to spot when I'm in Bangkok. The curries, especially the Massaman, are outstanding: there is a perfect balance of spiciness for Western travelers. The flavors are stronger than expected! The cashew nut fried rice rolls are fabulous with unique flavors and textures. May Kaidee is a true businesswoman, sometimes a bit too strong-willed, but what a talent! In short, go with your eyes closed and your taste buds awake.
I had a wonderful experience at the Mayan Cooking School in Bangkok. It is located not far from Khao San Road, a popular street among backpackers. However, in my opinion, there are many other cheap and authentic places in Bangkok that are worth visiting, without the hassle of street sellers. This vegan cooking school is definitely worth checking out.
