Le Marie-galante - Bangor

We were guests at the hotel so decided to make reservations for dinner at the restaurant. The prix fixe menu was creative and varied so there was something for everyone. The highlight of the appetizer (Carpaccio de Dorade was the amazing coriander sorbet!!! I could have eaten it for dessert again, but decided to go with the cheese plate (loved the cow cheeses but found the two sheep cheeses a bit bland. . My main course was a Lieu (Pollack with vanilla-perfumed celery purée that was outstanding. My husband had the lamb with curry. The restaurant was very busy but the staff managed to keep things moving. I'd highly recommend a visit if you are in the area, but you'll need to have reservations.

No matter how good the food is, if it takes an hour to get your first dish, then you loose clients. We are staying at the hotel and had our first dinner here ... but we did not feel important enough for the staff to notice us. The food was good the service not so much! We will spend the next evenings somewhere else ...

My wife and I visited the Marie-Galante spontaneously for lunch while touring the island in a rental car. As it was already off-season in September, there were enough empty tables to choose from. The menu is not large, but it offers wonderfully prepared fresh fish and seafood at reasonable prices. We shared a dozen oysters (26 Euro; you might get them cheaper elsewhere, but not the large delicious Creuses no.2), followed by a mouthwatering salad with five different fish fillets, shrimps and a langoustine. The wine by the glass is good, the price a bit at the upper end of the scale though). Service was swift and very friendly. Although we do not expect to come to la Belle Île again, I can certainly recommend this place!

Our lunch was outstanding. The room provides wonderful views of the ocean and coastline. It was worth the detour to eat at Marie-Galante.

The locations was magic, overlooking the ocean and we were surprised that the food and the service matched this. Beautiful fish dishes with top notch service to match. Highly recommend this for lunch or dinner.
