Feedback gevenThai Khon Kaen is a small restaurant located in a newly developing area near La Trobe University. Our group of 13 people found the food to be average but plentiful. The prices were reasonable, with the average cost per person being around $16.00. The service was good, although it seemed that there was only one person running the restaurant that night. This caused a delay in getting our food as there was only one cook and one waiter serving our large party.
With a name change to 'Thai Khon Kaen', the new owner, Anna, goes out of her way to please. Although not on the menu, Anna offered a buffet for our party of 10 with a selection of 4 entrees, 8 sides, and both free and coconut rice with desserts, beer, and coffee (we brought our own wine). With a generous tip included, the total cost was only $50 per person. Although I am not a fan of curries, I tried both the green and red Thai curries and found them to be sensational (not offered under the old name). The coconut ice cream I had for dessert was unexpectedly creamy and refreshing, reminiscent of how I remember ice cream tasting as a child. I will definitely be back. If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be that the drink service needs improvement; the guests at our table had to ask for refills multiple times.
The restaurant does not have a professional chef on staff, so diners may be disappointed with the food quality. The only positive aspect of the experience was the friendly service.
I had taken away a few times and I had eaten for the first time at night. this place is a jewel. it is located in a newly built shopping area, so it just comes from the floor, but eating is spectacular. everyone in. to the local area I urgently try. they will not be disappointed. If you like Thai food, that's your place. the deep-fried net jump rolls are for dying!
