Bar harbor could have more vegan options, but mckays had a really nice terrace with several elements on the menu. I had the vegan burger, came on a pretzel back with a delicious sauce. it was the best burger I had in the barport.
There are a few vegan and gluten-free options on the menu and everything I had was delicious. the service was great. I had the brussel sprouts and the Jamaican cocosnuss curry and both were amazing. they also have an impossible burger and a tomato soup on the menu that are vegan.
As of June 2021, they offer a vegan stir fry and an impossible burger. The stir fry was very bland, and they didn’t prepare the snow peas properly (left on the stem or whatever that top string is). The burger requires two $2 up charges to make it vegan (cheese and bun), but the menu doesn’t specify that it’s an up charge. We ended up spending $18 on the crappy stir fry and $19 on the burger, although the menu would have you believe it costs $15. Overall it was a nice outdoor finer dining experience, but overpriced for the quality of the vegan food.
I came right when they opened, so I didn’t have to wait long at all. Food was served almost immediately after ordering. The kung pao brussels were absolute incredible and would recommend for sure. I appreciate the addition of vegan cheese on the impossible burger, however their vegan bun was super crumbly and did not stay together. Chips were also bland. The brussel sprouts were $10 and the burger was between $13-15, so it was pretty expensive. It wasn’t the worst food but i think there’s better in Bar Harbor for vegan options
