The Dispensary Cafe - Barnard Castle

I visited on March 2nd to see the comedian Simon Evans (who was brilliant, by the way). The intimate setting of the venue makes it perfect for comedy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bar area is small but well-stocked. It would have been nice to have the option to pre-order drinks for the intermission and to have the bar open after the show, but given that this is a small venue run by volunteers doing a fantastic job, I understand that it may not be possible. I will definitely be returning!

I attended a rock concert on Saturday night and initially thought about giving it 4 stars. While the venue was beautiful and the staff were friendly, the acoustics weren't great. However, then I compared it to the Sage in Gateshead, where the prices are significantly higher and cash payments were impossible. Everything at this venue was so much easier. So, I’ve decided to give it 5 stars. Well done to the staff!

I visited The Witham for the first time on Friday during the Radio 4 program "Any Questions," which was broadcast from this location. The Witham is a modern multi-purpose center situated in the heart of Barnard Castle, right next to the Morrison car park. It features a variety of facilities, including a café and a hall for hosting events and shows. It was the perfect venue for the program. I plan to spend more time there on my next visit to the city.

Books and lp’s for sale. ian bought the beethoven on disc. there were paintings by local artists on the wall and some Kitsch models of building houses high on regals. no price tags visible, we thought they were not for sale. I haven't discovered a teekanne. the caffe was very pleasant with a good selection of scenes rolls and baked.

Went to a WI meeting at the Witham. Was well organised, good seating, refreshments and interesting talk on sign language. Very welcoming and friendly. I will go back for the next WI meeting at Witham third Monday in June.
