Got 1/2 stuffed lobster , 3 clams casino , and 2 nice sized high quality tuna kebobs with a 1/2 a key lime pie for under $40. Fire up the grill for maybe 5 mins and it's ready to serve. Lot of different options that I wanna get next time that never crossed my mind.
The crab cakes were awful. They were gray, mushy and tasted and smelled like low tide. I'd return them but the order was to go and I was miles away. The fries were ok and the corn was decent even though it's not in season yet. But a seafood place should be able to make crab cakes and Skippers can't.
I've been less than a mile away from this neighborhood gem of a fish market many times, but was unaware of it until recently when I discovered that my friends son was working there. The reviews piqued my interest so I planned a visit for the next time I was nearby. I arrived after 7 pm( they closed at 8) so I was a bit concerned with how much fish would still be available. Not to worry, the cases were looking full and enticing. It was probably not the best idea to visit while I was famished. Among the many offerings I went with stuffed flounder, stuffed lobster, lobster Mac n cheese and half of a key lime pie which was recommended to me by my friends kid. The bill came in just under $30, which seemed not too bad if the food tasted as good as it looked. Once home I cranked up the oven and started cooking the flounder. This was raw fish, 2 nice pieces with decent thickness too. A large dollop of crab stuffing sat atop. The fish itself was perfectly fresh and I'll likely buy that alone on my next trip($8.99 lb) The crab was ok, not lump but a good amount of a lesser meat, but not over seasoned or salty. The lobster only needed to be heated as it was previously steamed. Again the meat was very sweet and succulent. I enjoyed the seafood stuffing much more than the crab, this had larger chunks of shellfish, some scallops too. The seasoning for this was more interesting but in no way overpowering. As this was a half lobster Id likely but 2 the next time. I had the hunk of Mac n cheese the following day. There was not much lobster in it but at 5 bucks for a big portion, I didn't expect there to be. This was a very good Mac, the shellfish did add sweetness and the mild cheeses merged nicely. I'll buy a few in the future. The key lime pie was the whitest I've ever encountered. From other reviews this seems to be a true Florida version of this dessert. But it too was very good. It was a bit like smooth creamy cheesecake but with an unmistakable lime flavor. The graham cracker crust was thin and crisp. $7 for half a pie seems like a good price too. I came away from this visit thinking about Red Lobster and similar restaurants. The items sampled all were as good and probably better than like dishes I've had there. And prices were lower than you'd expect to pay at a sit down place. I'm planning on getting the raw flounder and possibly some scallops when I revisit. I'll likely try the Manhattan clam chowder too. I can see this becoming a normal stop when I'm in the area visiting friends. Great Yelp find!
I'm so excited to go today! This is just the first of many visits I plan to make this season. Every time I go, I consistently enjoy fresh and delicious seafood. The young and energetic staff are always polite and patient as I decide what to take home. My husband's favorite is their crab dip, and I can't get enough of their excellent stuffed lobster halves and stuffed crab. I even buy extra at the end of the season and vacuum seal them for the freezer—perfect for those unexpected guests when I need a quick surf and turf meal. I always stock up on blue crab bodies, crab claw meat, and fresh shrimp for a big pot of seafood gumbo. And I can’t forget the key lime pie; I always get mine for free because I spend over the threshold. Lastly, I can't rave enough about their flavorful baked beans—they're a delightful surprise to find at a fish market! You can even call ahead, and they'll set your order aside for you.
I want to express my deep respect for the owner of this establishment. I've visited this place several times and discovered it to be a hidden gem before heading to the island, where seafood prices can be exorbitant! After meeting the owner outside the restaurant and experiencing her kindness during a challenging situation, I can confidently say that this reflects the integrity of the entire business. I wish I could give it ten stars! They truly understand the fundamentals of what a community needs: compassion and consideration. Supporting small businesses like this one is always rewarding!
