On a Tuesday night, my two companions and I stopped by and ordered drinks along with two cakes. One cake, a lemon tart, lacked any hint of lemon flavor and was overly sweet and gooey. The other cake was flavorless and stale, prompting us to send it back. Despite the staff assuring us that it was fine, they did exchange it for a cheesecake - however, this did not resemble any cheesecake I had ever tasted. Both cakes seemed as though they had been sitting out for days, and we ended up leaving most of them uneaten. For Caffeine to succeed, I recommend they find a new supplier for their cakes. All three of us agreed that we would not return to this cafe.
This kosher coffee shop in the area, already saturated with kosher cafes and eateries, doesn't offer much that sets it apart. Located under a railway bridge for the Northern Line, the noise from passing trains can be bothersome, as can the overly loud music. Despite turning the music down upon request, it was promptly turned back up, making it difficult to have a conversation with companions. The menu offers a variety of Israeli dishes, though surprisingly no hummus. The soup is served in a large loaf and is quite flavorful, though I found it to be too salty. The Israeli salad was generously portioned and beautifully presented, served with fresh dark brown bread that was delicious. My companion enjoyed the minestrone soup. The service was quick, but lacking in attentiveness. Prices were reasonable and a service charge was added. The cafe is wheelchair accessible but lacks a disabled restroom, which I found to be a serious oversight in a recently refurbished establishment.
I have visited this restaurant before and the baked goods are not fresh and not tasty. Last week, I had a bad experience when I ordered a salad to go. When I started eating it, I found a bug in the salad. It was disgusting, but the worst part was yet to come. I returned after work to complain, but there was no one available to talk to. The waitress from another restaurant took my complaint after waiting for about 10 minutes. When she finally arrived, she was accompanied by a very rude person. When I explained my issue to them, they were dismissive and claimed that I had planted the bug in the salad. It was a terrible experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone.
