Real neapolitan pizza. came to late lunch. some of us chose the lunch contract that included lasagne, drinks and appetizers. I have kept the simple margarita pizza, baked on the oven. very good value for money.
We had a great lunch for only soles. salat (especially salat with lots of dressing), well developed part of the veggie lasagna (with mushrooms and zucchini) served hot from the ofen, three pieces roasted pizzateig and a bottle of water (with/without...gas) or other drinks. open Tuesday-Friday off they do not let themselves be fooled by the small size and rustic look this beautiful restaurant. delicious!
This restaurant used to be a burger place, and i have no idea when they closed the old one and opened the pizza place. we were hungry so decided to give it a try. staff was really friendly and helpful, service was quick and pizza...was delicious. i really liked their crust, so far one of the best i've tried in lima. their pizza menu is still quite basic (but delicious) and you can add extra ingredients for soles. i' hope that they'll expand their toppings options sometimes in the future, and i hope their business grows because i'm definitely planing to return. also, this is a first spot in lima that i know that sells pizza by slice, which i personally prefer if i end up eating by myself. pizza is pretty big (we were two people who shared it), and you can combine two different pizzas in one if you want to.
We were looking for a burger place based on TripAdvisor info but found Forneria The friendly and eager staff put a menu in our hand as we were only outside looking inside. The menu said they serve Peru's (in my opinion) best beer ..Sierra Andina which had to be a sign as we had just returned from Huaraz, the hometown of the beer. In we went to order a pizza! Anyway, I chose their Pepe pizza which is simply peperoni, cheese and tomato sauce. We asked the pizza to go as next morning we were leaving Peru and had some packing to do, so eating back at the hotel was the plan. We didn't speak much Spanish but lucky for us the manager was around and helped the staff with us foreigners. We got the order in and took a seat to wait. I was wondering how come they serve Sierra Andina and the manager wanted to know what Huaraz is like, so we had a quick chat. He also mentioned Forneria donates part of their income to a non-profit project which helps poorer communities in Peru. The pizza was amazing! Perfect dough, quality ingredients but not too much stuffing. The few pizzas I had in Huaraz on this trip were both a bit too heavy after too much stuffing is thrown on the delicate dough. Forneria had Sierra Andina's Inti and Huaracina beers available, and I went with my preferred Inti. Perfect dinner for our last night in Peru after few weeks in Huaraz climbing mountains. Go eat good pizza with a group of friends if you're going to Barranco. Now!
